Godox P600R P4 and P1200R P8 Hard Panels – Expert RGB LED Review and Specs

Share with friends

Godox has just expanded its KNOWLED hard panel lineup with two powerful new additions: the P600R Hard P4 and P1200R Hard P8. Designed for professional film, broadcast, and live production, these high-output RGB hard LED panels combine raw brightness with advanced pixel control, giving lighting teams unprecedented flexibility on set.

The P600R Hard P4 features four independently controllable pixel zones in a compact, 600W panel, while the P1200R Hard P8 doubles the zones and power with a 1200W output. Both panels deliver full RGBWW colour, high colour accuracy, and IP65 weather protection, making them equally capable for indoor studios and challenging outdoor environments.

By integrating rugged design, versatile control options, and a new adjustable diffusion system, Godox has created panels that do more than light a scene, they give creators precise control over every beam, shadow, and color nuance. These lights are built for productions where speed, reliability, and creative flexibility matter.

Brightness and Lighting Features

The P600R Hard P4 produces 600 watts of output, while the P1200R Hard P8 delivers 1200 watts. Both lights can reach up to 161,000 lux at one meter, providing enough power for both indoor and outdoor shoots. Pixel control sets these lights apart. The P4 offers four independently controlled zones, and the P8 features eight zones. This allows for dynamic light shaping, movement effects, and pixel mapping without extra fixtures, saving time and equipment on busy production sets.

Variable Diffusion for Hard or Soft Light

The adjustable diffusion system is a standout feature. It lets users quickly switch between hard, directional lighting and softer, cinematic illumination without changing modifiers. The system automatically adjusts the colour temperature to maintain accurate light quality, helping filmmakers get the exact look they want on set. It’s important to note that the adjustable diffusion system is not available for sale in the United States, so U.S.-based productions should plan accordingly.

Light Output and Colour Accuracy

Both panels provide a wide colour temperature range from 1800K to 10,000K, along with green–magenta adjustments. Their high CRI (~96–97) and TLCI (~98) ensure accurate skin tones and faithful colour reproduction. This accuracy reduces post-production corrections and ensures consistent results across different lighting setups. It is especially valuable for film, television, and broadcast work, where precise colour control is crucial.

Size and Portability

The P600R Hard P4 is compact and weighs around 11 kg (24.3 lb), making it easy to mount and move around medium to large sets. The P1200R Hard P8 is larger and heavier at 17.6 kg (38.8 lb), suited for long-throw lighting or large-scale productions. Both panels have a sleek profile and are designed to fit seamlessly into professional setups without taking excessive space.

Build and User Controls

These panels are built to withstand demanding conditions. Both feature robust housings and IP65-rated weather protection, keeping them safe from dust and rain. The active fan cooling system manages heat efficiently while keeping noise low, which is essential for video production. Control options are versatile. Users can operate the lights from the onboard interface or integrate them into complex setups via DMX, RDM, CRMX, Art-Net, sACN, or Bluetooth using the Godox app. This flexibility makes them easy to adapt to professional lighting workflows.

Pricing and Availability

The Godox P600R Hard P4 is available for $2,299, and the P1200R Hard P8 is priced at $3,890. Travel kits for both models, which include protective cases, add around $100 to the price. Availability may vary by region, so checking with authorized Godox distributors or official resellers is recommended.
